Its amazing how using the flash on a camera can make a big difference even in moderate lighting conditions. I took the photos below a week or so ago, one with the flash and one without.

Well, its certainly a bit cooler today than it has been lately. Probably a little closer to actual seasonal temperatures. Its the 20 mph wind that adds the chill I believe. Figured it was time for a Spring reminder just in case it doesn’t feel as much like Spring as it did a couple days ago.

Sounds like something from some thriller genre movie. Imagine my surprise when I stepped out the back door Monday to check on my tomato plants, to find an assassin lying in wait. Of course this wasn’t an all black wearing, sword wielding assassin, it was actually an Assassin Bug. One of many species found throughout the world.

The Assassin Bug is a carnivorous critter that uses a tube for feeding. It injects the tube into an unfortunate insectivorous victim and dissolves it from the inside, before consuming it. Pretty gruesome. Seems similar to some type of sifi alien movie. All of this happening in my own backyard. It looks a little like a hopper. I suppose you could tie one. Be sure to click on the image, and enlarge it or zoom to full size with your browser. The coloration is rather amazing.

This has been another installment of fun around home with the macro zoom since there is no fly fishing to report on. Hope to change that soon.
