Let’s see, where were we? It should be about time for another trout stocking report seeing as how it is Friday. First of all, the weather forecast looks awesome for this weekend. Highs in the Upstate region will be right around 80F with lows in the low 60s. It appears the sky will be nearly cloudless as well. Wear and hat and sunscreen as needed.

The SCDNR had a nice week of stocking with over 11,000 trout placed into streams like the Little Eastatoee, Little Canebrake, Rocky Bottom, Chattooga River, and the East Fork Chattooga River. With clear skies and water levels running about average to just below average, there could be a bit of a spooky factor out there. Those conditions will probably have a greater effect on wild trout than their hatchery raised counterparts, but I’d be prepared with 6x tippet for either.

We should definitely be into the anything that looks “buggy” ought to catch a fish phase of the year. Dry flies, nymphs, buggers, terrestrials, its all worth a shot and each will probably produce some action. You may ultimately hit on something that works better than everything else, however.
